Bio

Jackie Masloff is an architect, information technology manager, teacher, and educator. She developed an interest in computer technology during her last year at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and after graduating from RPI with a Bachelor of Architecture degree, she practiced architecture for three years and taught at what was then the Boston Architecture Center. Yet she found herself to be more technically inclined than artistically so and decided to pursue a Master of Science degree in computer science at Boston University.
She left the field of architecture to work in IT. She started as a trainer, training sales representatives on vendor products for the companies where she was employed, while at the same time, teaching introductory computer courses in Boston University’s Metropolitan College. She then moved on to be a technical support person, and finally an IT manager for many years, primarily at small companies in the Boston area, bringing their computer systems up-to-date to meet the emerging needs of business and technology.
When the Internet bubble burst in the early 2000s, she decided to return to her first love, which was teaching. She became certified to teach mathematics and instructional technology in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and taught at both the middle and high school levels for several years.
When the opportunity presented itself, she decided to teach at the college level and has taught at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Mass Bay Community College, Quincy College, and, for the past six years at Newbury College in Brookline, teaching mathematics and both elective and required computer science courses for the college’s CS degree.
Jackie received her doctoral degree from Lesley University in 2019. Her dissertation was on the factors contributing to the academic success of first-generation college students.
