Bio
Primary research and teaching interests include TV and Cinema Studies, Media Industries and Audiences, American Literature and Film, cultural studies, women's studies, and critical theories of race and ethnicity. Authored Television & New Media: Must-Click TV (Routldge 2010). Coedited four award-winning anthologies, Unsettling America, Growing Up Ethnic in America, and Identity Lessons (Penguin) and Italian American Writers on New Jersey (Rutgers). Wrote several articles on film spectatorship theory, consumer culture, ethnicity, and American literature in journals, including American Literature, Cinema Journal, American Drama, Mosaic, African American Review, North Dakota Quarterly, and Arizona Quarterly. Coauthored media and gender studies law reviews for Columbia Journal of Gender and the Law and Duke Journal of Gender Law and Policy. Currently, analyzing the television industry in relation to citizenship, web and fan address, and production cultures. Completing a second Television Studies book, with related articles appearing in anthologies, including Understanding Reality TV (Routledge, 2004), The Great American Makeover: Television, History, Nation (Palgrave 2006), Realties Remodeled: Reading Contemporary Television (I.B. Tauris, 2007), Critical Approaches to Mad Men (McFarland 2011),Teen Television: Essays on Programming & Fandom (McFarland 2008), and Grace Under Pressure: Greys Anatomy Uncovered (Cambridge Scholars Press, 2008).
