Bio

Jon Ericson is an Associate Professor of Experience Design (XD) whose interdisciplinary research applies human psychology and systems thinking to holistic design innovation for social and environmental impact. His research and teaching focus on emerging technologies and mental health, sustainability, and patient experience. As a core faculty member teaching XD courses in Bentley’s undergraduate, masters, PhD and executive education programs, Jon engages students in experiential learning through class projects and design challenges sponsored by corporations, startups, hospitals, government agencies, and nonprofits. His professional design work has earned a mention in Forbes, driven investments, and garnered industry awards, and his leadership as head of product design for a renewable energy startup contributed to a successful acquisition. Jon’s publications span multiple fields including healthcare communication, patient experience, cognitive science, data visualization, spatial memory and wayfinding, and environmental design. He regularly serves as an invited reviewer for journals and conferences, and he is currently a member of the editorial boards of Frontiers in Psychology: Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology, and the Journal of User Experience (JUX).
