Bio

Casey Hayward is a documentarian, artist, and storyteller. His work spans the disciplines of photography, motion pictures, and sculpture. He has been honing his skills as an image maker over the last 20 years.

Drawing on his MFA in Film and Television, early in his career he focused on mainstream documentary filmmaking and photography. Now, as a relative newcomer to the fine arts scene, he brings his street photography sensibilities and fondness for society’s cast-offs to his work. Hayward has a passion for finding beauty in even the most difficult aspects of the human experience. His image-based projects explore the boundaries of society and social entropy.

As a visual arts educator, Hayward values the interplay of teacher and learner and acknowledges that we are all “both/and.” He is a university scholar and a working artist. His photo-sculptural work has shown in solo and group exhibitions throughout New England. Hayward has also presented his work at multiple academic and photographic conferences. He looks forward to further experimentation with tactile imagery in service of describing the complexities of the human condition.
