Bio
An applied mathematician who promotes the application of mathematics in society, Professor Hadlock's teaching and research focus on mathematical modeling in relation to environmental and social issues. He has worked on major environmental cases such as Love Canal, Bhopal and Three Mile Island, and has advised multinational corporations and government agencies in the U.S. and abroad. His most recent book examines six common dynamics associated with collapse processes across a wide range of fields. Ongoing research focuses on the fragility of society, particularly how mathematical network models and agent-based simulations may help us understand how institutions can survive in the face of economic and environmental changes, new forms of conflict, and poor business or public leadership. A long-time consultant with Arthur D. Little, Inc, before coming to Bentley in 1990, his professional expertise ranges from corporate decision making to regulatory assessment. Previously served as Dean of the Undergraduate College.
