Teaching Interests

Teaching interests include Visual Basic, MS Access, SQL, and introductory IT courses. Interest in teaching, and have taught at Bentley, graduate courses in Enterprise Architecture and IT Policy (CS-600 and CS-800 levels). Before joining Bentley, taught courses in networking, programming, security, operating systems, and management of information and technology.

Research Interests

My research interests span the customer relationship management and software development areas.

Consulting/Practice Interests

Actively consults in the IT field in the areas of database and system integration.
Currently providing consulting support with the planning phase of an on-line scheduling commercial software. Role will continue during other Software Development Life Cycle phases.

Bio

Akram Ahmed brings a portfolio of expertise in business, and technical know-how with emphasis on solving business problems using information technology solutions. He spent over 20 years in IT technical and managerial roles in the corporate environment which included working in the IT department of Fortune-75. Earlier in his career, Akram was involved in several e-commerce initiatives as a software developer. His strategic, and managerial involvement included lead roles in implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and data warehousing systems. . As a firm believer in the presence of IT practitioners in the classroom, Akram continues to provide IT know-how as an independent consultant. Currently, he provides consulting support to on-line software start-up in all phases of software product development from requirements and specifications to go-to-market.
